This week has been difficult, HAVEN has had three clients return to their abusers and it is never easy to accept. We were talking about why they go back and I was reminded of this email that I sent out almost two years ago….. It is as true today as it was when I wrote it. The email is a great reminder to continue to do the best we can as advocates, friends, and family to provide a safe, supportive judgment-free zone that they will come back to when they ready to get rid of the toxic shell.

As we come to the conclusion of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month I hope you have been inspired to talk to the young people in your life about healthy relationships and the warning signs of abuse. Open communication is key in helping children navigate the teen years and violence in relationships is one of the topics that needs to be addressed.
