Was your algorithm flooded with conversation regarding the Good Good Golf/Callaway golf club advertisement that depicted a man shoving a woman to the ground this week? I had never heard of Good Good Golf or Callaway until watching the video. Needless to say, they did not make a good first impression.

For many people in this area, it is common to hear in church that divorce is a sin. Those who are experiencing abuse within their marriages may instead be encouraged to “pray more,” submit more fully to their husbands, remain together for the sake of their children, or simply endure the abuse. Some have even been told that leaving an abusive marriage could mean losing their salvation. For someone already experiencing abuse, these messages can create an even deeper sense of fear, guilt, shame, and entrapment.
