Realizing that someone you care about may be in an abusive relationship can be heartbreaking and deeply frustrating—especially when they aren’t ready to acknowledge the abuse or seek help. You may feel helpless, unsure of what to say or do, and afraid for their safety. While you can’t force someone to leave a relationship before they’re ready, your support can make a powerful difference. Knowing how to respond in a way that is safe, respectful, and empowering is key.

Haven FYI – Friday October 31, 2025

This is the last week of October and the last week of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, with that in mind we’re focusing are article on Oklahomans killed in domestic violence incidents.  Often when we hear in the news about women killed in homicides, we don’t hear the context, that the situation is the end results of a long domestic violence situation. If we did, perhaps victims would understand that domestic violence often ends in death, not in the perpetrator “changing” their behavior and being the person, the victim hoped or believed they could be.
