Protective Orders can be a component of a Safety Plan for domestic abuse survivors. Whether or not to request a Protective Order is a decision that survivors are often faced with. Many survivors are adamant that a Protective Order would only increase the abuse, others feel safer with a one in place. Decision making in abusive situation can be complicated. HAVEN advocates are always available to listen and help survivors figure out what steps they can take to increase their safety at a very unstable time.
