We used to say that bullying or “teasing” as it was called when I was a kid, was a normal part of growing up and it’s just “kids being kids”. Is it though? I will own that I was bullied at school as a kid and while I survived it, it left a lifetime of scars. Please take just a few minutes of your day to watch the video attached – let’s learn together to use our voice and teach our kids to use their voice and show them they and we have the power to stop bullying.

Survivors may downplay or dismiss these threats, often as a way to cope or stay hopeful. But abusive threats are a warning sign that should never be ignored—they can escalate quickly and dangerously.

StrongHearts Native Helpline is a 24/7, culturally-appropriate, confidential service for American Indian and Alaska Native people impacted by domestic and sexual violence. Launched in 2017 through a partnership between the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, StrongHearts was created in response to the high rates of violence in Native communities. Staffed by Native advocates, it offers support through phone, text, and online chat, providing care rooted in an understanding of Native cultures, sovereignty, and community needs.
