Haven FYI – Friday February 21, 2025

We came across this analogy on the MEND website comparing getting stuck in snow to domestic violence and thought it perfect for this weeks FYI

It’s winter, and for many of us that means snow-covered roads and unexpected challenges.
Some of us have faced that frustrating moment of being stuck—not just slipping and sliding, but completely unable to move forward.
You feel frozen.
Not just from the cold air biting at your face but because you don’t know what to do next.
You search for the shovel in the trunk, but it’s not there. No sand. No traction. You can’t push and drive at the same time.
You wrestle with whether to figure it out alone or call for help.
Then, a kind couple pulls up next to you, rolls down the window, and says, “We’ve got a tow strap. Need a hand?”
Ten minutes later, with their help, you’re moving forward again—more cautiously but with a sense of relief and gratitude.
This experience parallels the journey of healing and restoration!
It’s so much easier to get unstuck when you have support.
HAVEN advocates are ready to fill the role as your “kind couple”.
We can help you get “unstuck” with our specialized training, nonjudgement, listening skills, life experiences and great desire to come along beside survivors on the road to healing and restoration.
You don’t have to be stuck alone, support is available.
Thanks for reading.
Stay warm,
