Summer is winding down and our kids are getting ready to go back to school. We’re already getting emails about school supplies and registration. In all the busyness have you asked your kids if they’re happy at school and to be going back? I know I haven’t. Did you know that “1 in 4 students will be bullied, and 1 in 3 will be cyberbullied. Research shows that in over half of bullying situations (57%), when someone intervenes, the bullying stops within 10 seconds”.
We used to say that bullying or “teasing” as it was called when I was a kid, was a normal part of growing up and it’s just “kids being kids”. Is it though? I will own that I was bullied at school as a kid and while I survived it, it left a lifetime of scars. Please take just a few minutes of your day to watch the video attached – let’s learn together to use our voice and teach our kids to use their voice and show them they and we have the power to stop bullying.
Bullying is NOT “kids being kids” or a “normal” part of growing up. This has to stop, we have to teach our kids to use their voice to help make it stop or talk to us or someone else they trust if they’re being bullied. If you have questions, please know you are not alone.
